Star Traks: Melting Pot is based on Alan Decker's Star Traks, which in turn is based on Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry, may he rest in peace. Certain characters making appearances were created by Anthony Butler and/or Alan Decker. Copyright 2004. Star Traks: Melting Pot The Voyages of the USS Menagerie Start date - Monday, October 15, 2379 Captain Seetamyn - Vulcan, recently of the Vulcan institute of meditative studies. Formerly Science Officer of the USS Camaraderie. The very soul of "stoic" Seetamyn-Jaroch-Carl Jaroch Mindmeld Commander Thog - Klingon, recently the security chief of the USS Viceroy (tends to shoot first and ask questions later) This aggression hides a very deep insecurity problem. her family is one of the most dishonored on Kronos and she has joined Starfleet to regain their honor. Now that she has been transferred from Security to Command, she fears that she has missed her chance. You may have noted some rather un-Klingonlike subservient behavior on her part. This comes from generations of her family being poor servants, considered unfit for battle. Cell Phone (Tales of the Unusual) The family she serves - T'lbot Lt. Commander(s) B1, B2 - Bynars, The first Bynars to make it through Starfleet academy, everyone had high hopes for these two (their names are an unpronouncable string of 1's and 0's, so everyone calls them B1 and B2 although nobody can tell them apart) unfortunately, they don't socialize and this tends to put some people off - they are NEVER seperated. Lieutenant Dil Mantron - Betazoid, poor Dil has no psychic abilities (or does he) so he has been bounced from one post to another as his captains have felt "cheated" by having a no-talent Betazoid at Helm. All this overshadows the fact that Dil is actually an excellent officer 'manipulate Tuna markets' beaurocrat martial arts training - Betazed - dexterity Lieutenant M'Dral - Benzite, recently of the USS Madagascar M'Dral tends to hyperventilate when she is excited Unfortunately this tends to create a serious "fog" problem in enclosed places (like, say, the bridge of a Starship) Lt. Commander Ustrano - Velvattian, recently of the USS Octavius, Ustrano was considered expendable for physically removing the captain from main Engineering during a crisis. Ustrano's multitude of tentacles are perfect for use during the many crisis that tend to crop up in these stories Technically third in command (he is above Banjo) (talks alot as the highest ranking officer ever - caste system for verbiage) Commander Banjo - Changeling, after the Dominion war, the Founders tried several ways to make peace with the Federation. One of these involved personnel exchanges. The Explorer Project put Federation ships and crews in the Delta Quadrant. The Founders responded by sending several representatives to the Alpha Quadrant to work as Security officers (based on the experiences gained by Odo on DS9) Starfleet granted the honorary title of Commander to these Officers although they have no Command experience. Lieutenant Gisech - Graaken, A tribe of once insanely violent barbarians, they were pacified by the slightly unorthodox methods of Father Jonathon Faaduzh (Father Phaser), a Benedictine Monk with a decidedly by-the-book "Cross or Sword" type missionary service. The OATH - symbolized by an ornate torc in the shape of a terrestrial mythical dragon worn around his neck. A superior may remove the torc, releasing Gisech from his OATH. With most Graaken, this would result in a terrifying, brutal killing machine. With Gisech it results in a philosophizing pacifist who bores his target into catatonia. Tatoos - story of my life. Chiefs of the past would use captureed enemies to continue their stories - named SEE-KWALS. "Real strength is denying your dark side - that is what takes power" Ensign Zamtra - Tamarian, is the first Tamarian to graduate from Starfleet Academy and this is his first posting. He has learned Federation Standard quite well (although he speaks it with overly dramatic allusions) and only slips back to Tamarian in moments of crisis Doctor Pish Jantoo - Bajoran, grew up in the Cardassian labor camps on Bajor. She learned first aid there and was one of the first to attend school off-planet when Bajor was liberated. She collapses into a bowl of jelly when anyone raises their voice. (good thing the captain is a Vulcan, hmm) Lieutenant Aceed Sperr (Speed Racer) - Saurian fish man. Note that he breathes air and doesn't have gills! Saurian: Amphibian humanoids from Alpha Sauria IV. Saurians have pink to purple flesh with red and yellow eyes, and their bodies resemble upright bipedal fish. Although they appear to be fishlike, they breathe oxygen. Sauria is not a member of the Federation, although several Saurians enter Starfleet each year. Saurians are best known for their Brandy, a highly intoxicating and very prized liquor. Manipulate Tuna markets Ensign Hirthnole, an elderly Tellarite who insists on singing "American Pie", naked, while riding his unicycle, whenever a Karaoke Night was scheduled) The Ship's Computer - Responds to all queries with the information required prompty, and efficiently. The only problem is, it only responds in limericks a-9 a-9 b-6 b-6 a-9 Guinanco refused to run the lounge on the Menagerie for reasons unspecified. Not wanting to break with long-held tradition, Starfleet finally found a reformed? Orion woman named Linnea to manage the bar. Linnea may not be quite as reformed as she has led Starfleet to believe. While she doesn't do anything overtly illegal, she does maintain a network of contacts and has access to data and material that would not normally be available to Federation citizens. Linnea, is in reality a character assassin and has been contracted by the Syndicate to "fufill Starfleets prejudices against the Menagerie". Because of the Bracktian incident. Runs The Pirate's Cove a high-class 'seafood', nautically themed resturant/night club. Linnea's father has a cover restuarant on Venturas 6.3 (a moon called Terthot) The Venturas System is full of rogues: Venturas 4.1 (lone Moon named Meesane) - Ferengi Venturas 5 (Planet) - Gorn Venturas 6.2 (a moon named Dirmas) - Humans Linnea's father = Lusiphen Brother 1 = Lucius Brother 2 = Lumon (F)Dr. Sidarian - Head of Biosciences - unjoined Trill (M)Dr. Tilnon - Head of Geosciences - Vulcan (M)Dr. Fidth - Head of Astrophysics - Betazoid - disdain for Mantron (no powers) (M)Dr. Gau - Replaces Dr. Fidth - Fat Arcturian Arcturian: A race of humanoids from Arcturus VI. Arcturans are hairless and have very, very loose skin, to the point where there are dozens of loose folds of skin throughout the body. Arcturians generally frown on sexual reproduction, and often choose to have themselves cloned. Arcurian culture frowns on individuality and sexuality and encourages conformity and asexuality. Arcturus VI is a member of the Federation, although their culture often causes conflicts with the other worlds. This project is under the command of Admiral Sontak, one of the few non-human Admirals in Starfleet. NCC-76453 It has 16 decks Catagory: Multi-Vector Assault Phasers: Type X Length: 415 meters Fore + Aft Torpedo Launchers: 6 Height: 64 meters Width: 163 meters Warp Reactor: M/ARA Mass: 950,000 metric tons Normal Cruising Speed: Warp 6 Decks: 14 or 16 Maximum Cruising Speed: Warp 9.9 Maximum Speed Warp 9.98 (12 hrs) Crew: 175 officers and enlisted Maximum Capacity: 500 . . In an emergency, all systems could be routed to the bridge, making it impossible to access them from any other location. As usual, a number of stations run around the outside of the bridge. Engineering is on the captain's extreme right; the environmental station is next to this. The master systems control station is directly behind the captain's chair and the tactical station is on his extreme left. All of these stations, as well as the captain's chair, are on a raised level; three sets of steps lead down to a lower area, where the curved conn station is located. Two officers sit at this station, which also controls communications. Four doors lead off the bridge; the one behind the captain and to his left leads to a turbolift. If necessary, the entire bridge can be crewed by four people. Only the conn, engineering, and tactical stations are provided with seating. The Prometheus has a state of the art sickbay with all the latest equipment. Entry is straight into the main diagnostic and surgical areas. There are several desks around the room, which is dominated by a surgical biobed. The ship has it's own EMH, which is also a prototype. On it's maiden voyage this EMH, the Mark II, was programmed specifically for the Prometheus and could identify the crew on sight; when it encountered ant other Starfleet officers, it automatically requested their rank and security clearance. in addition, it immediately tried to alert the bridge in the event of intruders. The program's holomatrix was still unstable when Starfleet conducted field tests on the prototype ship. The Prometheus makes much greater use of holographic systems than earlier vessels. The entire ship is fitted with holographic projectors, allowing the EMH to move outside sickbay. This enables him to treat injuries sustained during battle as quickly as possible. Stardate 55324.4 Federation Council Chambers, Earth Ambassador Kyyyecht of the Rusai stood firm amidst the uproar that his statement had caused. He had expected this reation, after all. One doens't just walk into a governing Council composed of the the most highly regarded beings in the known universe and accuse them of being speciest without expecting an eruption of chaos. He waited, patiently for the furvor to die down and then, slowly, presented his case. Six hours later, the gathered Ambassadors were forced to conceed that he had a point (either that or they were all starving). It was overly apparent that the majority of personnel on Starfleet vessels was Human. A decision was reached. Over the next several months, the project that had been born that day slowly grew and took on form. A Vulcan Admiral was named to head the project. His office issued orders to every Starfleet ship in space: To: Starfleet Captains From: Admiral Sontak Re: Project "Open Arms" Subject: Non-Human Personnel reassignment Please review your current crew complement and select the best and brightest of your non-Human personnel for assignment to this new Starfleet initiative. Coordinate with this office for replacement personnel and transportation logistics. Sontak Sensing an opportunity, these selfsame Starfleet captains immediately off- loaded the worst of their crews. In short, what the 'Open Arms" Project wanted was the best and the brightest, what it got was a lot closer to the tired, the poor, the wretched refuse. And therein lies the story... ******************************************************* The Quest for the Six Spheres of Power Blurb - The beginning of a story arc which will
cover the next several episodes.
The Menagerie discovers an ancient civilization
in a hidden area of space. Will they be able
to awaken the long-forgotten Foreenans?
And just why are Velvattians so quiet?
Find out on September 20th in "The OverMind over Matter" The OverMind over Matter (S1E3) In an uncharted sector, the crew come across a barren, desolate planet. Here they find the OverMind - the collected consciounesses of over 10 Billion Foreenans. The OverMind asks them to go on the Quest for the Six Spheres of Power in order to restore the population. By assembling the Spheres, Foreena, the Legendary Planet of Peace, will be returned to its former glory and will join the Federation to usher in a new era of technology and understanding throughout the galaxy. Dueling against the Dark Queens. (the Super Symbiont) Genetic material split into two seperate beings and then scattered to opposite sides of the Alpha Quadrant. Genesis of the Borg/Götterdämmerung of the Borg (Sphere 2) (S1E5) The ship is sent to the Borg Homeworld, just as Cube #347 leaves, the Llarn now irrevocable Borg-ized. A Prometheus-class ship could easily destroy the Borg at this point in time, but should they? See Borgspace S1E12-14 for background. Mantron - blindly obeying every rule and regulation without regard for its appropriateness to a given situation does not make you a good Starfleet officer. It makes you a beaurocrat. Test of doing what's "right" vs following the rules Aggregation (Sphere 3) (bonesnatcher/colony creature attackers) (S1E6) On a desert planet the crew come under attack from an unknown creature. There are no higher animals found. Andorian crew have nightmares. Seetamyn loses his legs "are those Bugle Boy jeans that you're wearing?" Test of dedective/inductive reasoning/survival Dr. Fidth's move against Mantron Pish, Seetamyn and Ustrano on surface Banjo inpersonating Mantron to catch Fidth Tesseract (Sphere 4) (S1E7) The crew find themselves in a dimension of pure chaos. Reality isn't what they percieve it to be any even those perceptions are twisted (they find out that thought governs everything) (Seetamyn leads a guided meditation to visualize the recovery of the Sphere) - the Jaroch connection and other flashbacks Mantron's martial arts Jantoo's prison time Test of ability to perform in absolutely unknown circumstances A Crisis of Conscience (Sphere 5) (S1E8) In this dimension, the crew are given god-like powers (Crystal Warriors) Will they be able to forsake these powers and return to the ship? Test of self-sacrifice for the greater good and maturity level Elemental Temple of the Elder God (Sphere 6) (S1E9) AD&D - Star Traks Style! Cyclic Ridiculousness (memories gone from being discorporeal too long) (S1E10) The Spheres are assembled and the Foreenans awakened. The results are not exactly as hoped for. This will end about StarDate 57800. (S1E11) Slippery Slope Every revolution evaporates and leaves behind only the slime of a new bureaucracy. Franz Kafka Admiral Branson, formerly Captain Branson of the USS Clausewitz, decides to court martial Ustrano for assaulting a superior officer. Can Seetamyn's logic save the day? (reassignment was temp while they assembled a full case against him) The Super Symbiont's first move Humans Uber Alles (S1E12) Hair Trauma Delivering emergency medical supplies, the Menagerie 'accidentally' unknowingly unleashes a virulent plague on an unsuspecting world. By the time they find out, 25% of the planet's population is turned into Lounge Singers. Can Doctor Pish save the day and the ship's reputation? Will she even be allowed to try? (Linnea's first move) Linnea reveals herself The Menagerie is declared an outlaw vessel at the end of S1E12 (super Symbiont's second move) Planet Bouffant - the Planet of Hair-Style Models - Keratinian System Athelete's Foot infection Hair fall out Polyester (S1E13) Xenophobia 1 The Menagerie comes under attack from other Starfleet vessels.
